ABOUT
Dr. Melissa Bartnick,
DSW, LCSW, LICSW
I work primarily with adults who carry significant responsibility in both their professional and personal lives — people balancing demanding careers, leadership roles, and the expectations that come with being someone others depend on.
CLINICAL EXPERIENCE
REAL-WORLD PERSPECTIVEUnderstanding people in context
Over 17 years, I've worked with professionals across a range of industries, as well as military-connected individuals and families. My background spans both clinical and business settings, which gives me a grounded understanding of leadership, workplace dynamics, high-stakes decision-making, and the real challenge of balancing career demands with personal well-being.
My doctoral research focused on the intersection of social work and business, specifically leadership development, organizational culture, employee engagement, and change. That background shapes how I think about therapy: not just what's happening for you individually, but the systems and pressures around you that make things harder than they need to be.
I also bring a practical understanding of the corporate world: the systems, policies, and structures that shape how pressure shows up at work. That matters more than ever as AI adoption, layoffs, shifting expectations, and constant organizational change reshape how people experience work, leadership, and job security. Sometimes the pressure you're carrying isn't just personal; it's structural, and it's moving fast. Therapy can be a place to make sense of both.
My Approach
My style is relaxed, collaborative, and practical. I want you to feel comfortable enough to be honest, ask questions, and be yourself. I'll meet you where you are, but I'll also ask thoughtful questions, offer honest feedback, and challenge you when it's useful. Together, we'll explore patterns you may not notice on your own and find practical ways to move forward.
What to expect
Our first session is a chance to get to know each other and talk about what's bringing you in. I'll ask questions to understand the challenges you're facing and what you'd like to see change, and I'll answer any questions you have about what working together might look like.
